A large artillery shell is fired from a cannon, flying through the air before landing in a field where a soldier runs to retrieve it. The shell then launches the soldier into the air, where he is later seen being carried by a soldier in a trench, standing in front of a line of soldiers, and finally hanging from a biplane flying through the sky. The setting is a war-torn landscape with hills, trenches, and a cloudy sky.
