The birds dance.

A sage grouse displays its spiky tail feathers while walking forward in a dry, grassy field. Two red-crowned cranes perform a synchronized dance in the snow, spreading their wings and stepping in unison. A large flock of brown and black ducks gathers in shallow water near reeds. Two great crested grebes face each other on the water, preening and moving their heads in a ritualized display. A sage grouse walks toward the camera with its tail feathers fully fanned out.
