But what for

A character with long dark hair and a red scarf crouches in a dimly lit hallway, extending a hand toward a small dog. The dog, a tan and white breed, looks up at the character with an open mouth and wide eyes, appearing to smile. The scene loops, showing the character's hand reaching out and the dog looking up, with a close-up on the dog's face.
