Why ?

The scene opens on a snowy cityscape at night, viewed through a window with overhead power lines, then cuts to a close-up of a young man with dark hair and blue eyes looking out from inside a train car, his face visible through the rain-streaked glass as a sign with Japanese text and an arrow points left, before cutting back to the snowy city view.
