A yellow and black race car performs a burnout, creating a cloud of white smoke on a racetrack at night. The scene cuts to a red race car, Lightning McQueen, drifting and kicking up smoke, then collides with a white and yellow car, sending it flipping into the air while McQueen also becomes airborne. The sequence continues with a blue and red car crashing and sliding across a snowy or icy surface in a large arena.
