Missed chance

A young man with dark hair and a backpack stands on a sidewalk at night, facing a young woman with dark hair and a school uniform. She looks at him with a surprised expression, then her mouth opens slightly as if speaking, before closing into a soft smile. The scene cuts to a wider shot showing them standing opposite each other on a street corner, with the man holding a long, thin object.
