A red sphere and a white sphere, each attached to a long pendulum, swing back and forth over a blue surface marked with numbered positions; the red pendulum swings with a shorter period than the white, causing its shadow to trace a circular path while the white pendulum's shadow moves more slowly, creating a looping pattern of relative motion.
