What is yaoi?

A pink-haired anime girl with cat ears smiles with closed eyes and a blush, her hands clasped in front of her, against a sparkling pink background. The scene cuts to a classroom where the same girl stands with a neutral expression, while a girl with long black hair in the foreground is bent over, sweating and holding a red object in her mouth.
